footloose and fancy free

aka…watch out! writer on the loose! ;o)

unfortunately, Regal Crest and I couldn’t come to an agreement for the language in the publishing contract, so it looks like I’ll be peddling my wares with someone else. don’t know who yet, but I’ll likely just concentrate on getting an agent and actually getting some writing done this summer.

timing, as they say, is everything. see, back when RCE kindly published Mind Games for me, I’d literally just made the decision to go into television writing. and, of course, I spent the next/last 4-5 years learning the craft of screenwriting. which brings us to the present where I’m finally comfortable in my level of skill, though naturally always looking to improve, to ease off a little on the screenwriting train and focus back on novels.

even tho it’s taken me away from my novels for such a long time, I certainly can’t complain about the time spent learning screenwriting. it’s made me a much, much, much better writer on the whole; tighter, more descriptive, as well as more action and character oriented (not counting rambling lj posts ;o)). I’m happy to say that my writing today is a hundred times better than it was when I started the journey so even if I never get my work on tv (tho I will!!), it’s been an awesome learning experience.

in any case, just wanted to let you all know what was going on and to look forward to some posts from novels in progress during the rest of the summer. it’s time for me to relax a bit. I’ve got an apocalyptic novel going on, some gay space cowboys, the sequel to Dark Night (think it needs a new title? def not batman),and a really fun original superheroes novel.

any requests for what I should work on first?

and don’t forget that Regal Crest is selling direct these days, so support them! my books won’t be there, but there’s great writing to be found!

hope everyone’s having a great summer!
